The President of the Board of Directors of Andesco indicated that Colombia can only move forward if it submits to certain key agreements. What are they?
Judith Buelvas, President of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Public Services and Communications Companies (Andesco), stated at the guild’s congress that Colombia can only advance if it submits to certain key agreements involving the public services industry.
“They are fundamental agreements that are worth remembering and which I want to insist on: there are five of them,” the guild executive said.
The five key agreements proposed by Andesco, according to Judith Buelvas, are:
- Preserve Institutional Arrangements: Conserve the institutional arrangements that allowed for the achievement of satisfactory indicators in public services.
- Seek New Solutions for Gaps: Find new schemes and solutions to address the already known gaps in the different services that are part of Andesco.
- Ensure Financing: Guarantee the financing of public policy decisions.
- Guarantee an Organized Transition: Ensure an organized transition in the different public service provision models facing the environmental challenge.
- Maintain a Vigorous Business Sector: Keep the business sector “vigorous.”
Buelvas stressed that for this to work, a more open sectoral dialogue must be activated. She also emphasized that the “Government, company, and workers model must be seen as an alliance and not as a confrontation,” and that the Government should leverage the experience of public service providers to meet its social goals.
