The Attorney General’s Office summoned a working group to be held in person in Bogotá with the purpose of reviewing the country’s energy situation
The Attorney General’s Office (Procuraduría General de la Nación) has convened a high-level working group to be held in person on July 8, 2025, at the Public Ministry headquarters in Bogotá to review the country’s electric power situation.
This is done with the purpose of identifying and analyzing the main challenges that impede the commissioning of energy chain projects in Colombia.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, the forum seeks to collaboratively build concrete solutions to overcome institutional, technical, social, and environmental barriers.
This is especially critical after the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the Energy and Gas Regulatory Commission (CREG) expressed the urgency for several projects in the energy chain to become operational to guarantee the reliability of the national electrical system.
High-ranking officials from the environmental and mining-energy sectors are expected to present progress and proposals to streamline environmental procedures.
Likewise, the National Environmental Licensing Authority (ANLA) must report on projects suspended due to a lack of rulings, while the mining-energy sector will need to refer projects that require preventative accompaniment from the Attorney General’s Office.
Those summoned to the table, with a non-delegable status, by the delegate for Environmental, Mining-Energy, and Agrarian Affairs, include the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, the director of ANLA, the Minister of Mines and Energy, the president of the National Hydrocarbons Agency, the acting director of the Mining-Energy Planning Unit, and the Executive Director of CREG.
